I Got My First Surface Piercing

In this week’s episode of ‘Hannah gets too easily bored with her appearance’... Since breaking the boundary of getting tattooed, my previous love and frequency of getting piercings died down. In my original and only post about my piercings, I talked about each of my then 11 piercings, what the pain was like, as well as the healing and my general experiences. I was momentarily distracted by the new and exciting world of tattoos, but with no plans to get anymore than the two I have now, I returned to my piercing-loving ways this week. One thing that all my piercings have in common, is that they are not surface piercings. In that, they all go through a part of my skin, cartilage, whatever, and come out the other side - there is a back and front to the piercing. What people who are not well versed with the world of piercings may not realise is the difference between ‘normal’ piercings and surface ones. Now that I have one, I thought I’d take the opportunity to tell whoever is inter...

Live Review: Let’s Eat Grandma @ Heaven - 27/9/2018

Sweet and delicate Norwich duo Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingsworth took to a sold out show in world famous gay bar Heaven in London this week, to entertain the crowd in the only way they know how to; with poise, talent, humility and grace. With a diverse crowd of ages, gender and class in London’s Embankment area, the room waited with excited anticipation - ready for a Thursday night of epic proportions. Riding high off the success of their newest offering I’m All Ears, the pair took to the stage with an air of undeniable confidence, launching straight into popular bops ‘Whitewater’ and ‘Hot Pink’. Other than a few hellos and thank yous, both Rosa and Jenny need not say anything else to the crowd, as their music completely spoke for itself. Bustling on through the set, which consisted of mostly tracks from their newest record, with only hints of older material, the girls interchanged between playing the keyboard, guitar, and even saxophone - all played brilliantly. The duo also ...

Radiohead Dotwork Tattoo: My Experience, Pain, and Healing

Before I get started I just want to say a huge thank you for all the support on my previous post, and for reassuring me that the content of that letter was...well weird. It’s my most viewed post to date so even if you just wanted a nose, or to genuinely reach out with advice, I appreciate you! ANYWAY... I got another tattoo. I love it. I’d like to tell you about it.  After exploiting my blog in search of opinions on what to get for tattoo number two, I finally decided that I would pay homage to the wonderful album The Bends by my favourite band Radiohead. I got the design done at L1 Ink Tattoo Studio by tattoo artist Jessica Brown, who specialses in dotwork, and it cost me £60 overall, which included the deposit of £30 which secured my appointment. The Booking After deciding for certain on my design idea, I emailed Jessica with the basic concept of what I wanted; the album cover of The Bends but without the text, and I wanted it encompassed in a square. W...

Revisiting Old Hobbies

Hey guys, hope you’re all doing well. Today I want to talk hobbies. You know, those things we do to procrastinate from uni work, or cleaning our rooms, or whatever it might be. The things that we claim make us talented and cultured when in reality we’re just mediocre at a couple of things, instead of being very skilled at one thing. Amongst many failed attempts at hobbies, my main ones have always been music related; namely guitar. I had dabbled in other instruments, reaching grade 2 on the saxophone until giving up on my Lisa Simpson dreams. I can’t speak for the education system now, but I felt generally quite discouraged in pursuing an instrument in my secondary school. When leaving half way through an academic lesson to go to a saxophone lesson (timetabled in a way I had no control over), my teachers would always be exasperated and annoyed at me leaving. This was a huge factor in me wanting to quit saxophone - something I feel was a regrettable decision, and poor behaviour from...

Tattoo Number 2 - A Story Of Indecision

It’s Mrs Addictive Personality coming to you live. As a few regulars will know, on 30th May this year I embarked on my first tattoo journey. I call it a journey, and not lightly, because picking the design, sizing, tattoo parlour and most importantly my preferred artist in that parlour, took a whole lot of deliberation. Not to mention my continuous eternal struggle with the commitment of a tattoo, which I documented in my ‘Should I Get A Tattoo?’ post, the pain, the question as to how much I loved theology to actually get something dedicated to it. Oh, it was an ordeal.  You’d think then that the body modification craving, that I literally have not been able to get rid of since getting my bloody earlobes pierced, would be satisfied. Yet, here we are again - I want another one. For heavily tatted folks this won’t seem like a huge deal; some probably can’t imagine having just one tattoo, especially something as small and unnoticeable under clothing as my first one is (pic bel...

Today I Am Listneing To...

Howdy. I’m back from a longer-than-expected summer hiatus (blame me being either drunk or hungover far too often to be creative). I can’t promise that I’ll be totally back on my A Game of weekly uploads until I’m back to the more structured uni life, but I can promise that the blogging cogs in my brain are starting to turn again and I am getting more inspired to write once more. To ease myself into the blogging life again I’m going to start by introducing a new feature idea I have; ‘Today I’m Listening To...’ where I give a rundown of my current favourite music which some of you will hopefully find interesting. Whilst I am someone who tends to stick to the same albums for at least a couple of months at a time (pretty much until I’ve listened so much I get bored), there are songs that creep in and out of my usual playlists which I intend to document with this ongoing feature. Blackstar - Radiohead “Where do we go from here? The words are coming out all weird” Underrated? Ove...

Unsolicited Staring: A PSA

I’m back and fairly angry. Apologies for not posting last week, inspiration was low but I’m back and ready to get back into weekly posting; dedicated and posting only the best content I can. I admit that I don’t have a huge platform with this blog - it is in the grand scheme of the internet an insignificant collection of content. That being said, by sharing my blog on all of my social media platforms (being a basic millennial white girl I obviously have a few), I am confident that voicing my opinions on social issues will at least reach a big enough group of my peers to be worth while. I want to discuss something that I myself have experienced a lot as a young woman. I am conscious that what I am going to describe is something that many different categories of people have also experienced, and it is certainly not restricted by age, gender or sexuality, to name a few. I can however only speak from my own personal social place and hope that it resonates with the demographic ...
