Life Update: Finishing Second Year, Booking My Tattoo, Getting Ready For Home

Hey gang, I hope you’ve all had a great week. I thought I’d use this week as a sort of catchup/chat with you all; this is a personal blog after all and I have to satisfy the nosy ones amongst you lol. Basically, it’s all been a bit structured recently and I just want to chat so that’s what I’m gonna do! On the 23rd I had my last exam of second year, after a long overstretched three weeks of exhaustion and stress. Ah exam season, it really is the bloody worst time of year. Overall, my exams went well (I think), and apart from one or two curveball questions (we don’t talk about those), I feel fairly confident. If any of you have read my post about my personal experience with A Levels, you will know that even saying that I think an exam went well is a HUGE deal for me, and I’m so relieved that I’m getting better at managing my stress. Hopefully by third year, I’ll be the most zen gal during exams; one can hope lol. On the subject of second year, I am SO relieved that it’s over. I’ve a...

Live Review: Peace @ O2 Forum Kentish Town - 16/5/18

With the immenent release of their third studio album Kindess Is The New Rock and Roll, the announcement of Peace’s new tour was something I knew I had to attend, having not seen the band live since 2015 when second album Happy People was merely beginning to rear its head as the iconic indie album we now know it to be. This was my first time at the o2 Forum which I now know to be a stunning and intimate venue, and the first time I’ve ever attended a gig solo, which in itself I see to be an achievement, and I could not have asked for a better band to experience that with. I cannot review this night without giving a huge shoutout to Irish support whenyoung. This three-piece got the crowd extremely hyped up as we anticipated the entrance of Peace, with lead singer and bass player Aoife Power giving huge Ellie Rowsell of Wolf Alice vibes with her confident singing. One thing I found refreshing about whenyoung’s performance was their undeniable chemistry, all three of them making unyieldi...

How to Start and Maintain Your Own Blog

In what might be the epitome of the blind leading the blind, I thought I’d take the opportunity this week to give my questionable pearls of wisdom on blog writing. I have been posting weekly for about 5 months now, so I have definitely picked up a few things, which I hope will help out someone considering starting their own blog, because I couldn’t recommend it enough. Write About Your Biggest Interests Being your blog, it makes sense that you should write about what makes you tick. There is no point in editing your interests or beliefs to tailor to a certain audience. Writing is far better when there is passion and interest behind it, so write about what you enjoy, and it will invite an audience who share a similar interest, and hopefully, this will create a community of likeminded people, all because of your passionate writing, which I think is a very cool concept. Spend Time Working On The Aesthetic  As much as the quality of your content is by far the most important thi...

Kindness is the New Rock and Roll - Track by Track Review

In my second instalment of track by track album reviews, comes new release by indie god’s Peace, in the shape of the wholesome record Kindness is the New Rock and Roll. With their previous two albums becoming staples of any indie playlist, their tunes standing the test of time through years of gigs and festivals, Peace have certainly developed a name for themselves in the industry, as well as a hugely passionate and dedicated fan base. Being amongst that fan base myself, I thought it was only right that I dedicate a post to this much anticipated release. Does anyone follow this band’s Instagram stories regularly? My god, the promo on those every day was relentless lol, but it definitely got me excited for this release. So, will it live up to expectations, and match the two previous and stellar albums? Let’s find out. Track 1 - Power  And what a powerful opener it is. Whilst I have to admit my first thought when hearing this song pre-release of the album, was the overwhel...
