Hey gang, I hope you’ve all had a great week. I thought I’d use this week as a sort of catchup/chat with you all; this is a personal blog after all and I have to satisfy the nosy ones amongst you lol. Basically, it’s all been a bit structured recently and I just want to chat so that’s what I’m gonna do! On the 23rd I had my last exam of second year, after a long overstretched three weeks of exhaustion and stress. Ah exam season, it really is the bloody worst time of year. Overall, my exams went well (I think), and apart from one or two curveball questions (we don’t talk about those), I feel fairly confident. If any of you have read my post about my personal experience with A Levels, you will know that even saying that I think an exam went well is a HUGE deal for me, and I’m so relieved that I’m getting better at managing my stress. With the immenent release of their third studio album Kindess Is The New Rock and Roll, the announcement of Peace’s new tour was something I knew I had to attend, having not seen the band live since 2015 when second album Happy People was merely beginning to rear its head as the iconic indie album we now know it to be. This was my first time at the o2 Forum which I now know to be a stunning and intimate venue, and the first time I’ve ever attended a gig solo, which in itself I see to be an achievement, and I could not have asked for a better band to experience that with. I cannot review this night without giving a huge shoutout to Irish support whenyoung. In what might be the epitome of the blind leading the blind, I thought I’d take the opportunity this week to give my questionable pearls of wisdom on blog writing. I have been posting weekly for about 5 months now, so I have definitely picked up a few things, which I hope will help out someone considering starting their own blog, because I couldn’t recommend it enough. Write About Your Biggest Interests Being your blog, it makes sense that you should write about what makes you tick. There is no point in editing your interests or beliefs to tailor to a certain audience. Writing is far better when there is passion and interest behind it, so write about what you enjoy, and it will invite an audience who share a similar interest, and hopefully, this will create a community of likeminded people, all because of your passionate writing, which I think is a very cool concept. In my second instalment of track by track album reviews, comes new release by indie god’s Peace, in the shape of the wholesome record Kindness is the New Rock and Roll. With their previous two albums becoming staples of any indie playlist, their tunes standing the test of time through years of gigs and festivals, Peace have certainly developed a name for themselves in the industry, as well as a hugely passionate and dedicated fan base. In a very self indulgent move this week, I simply want to rant and air my thoughts about a decision I’ve wanted to make for ages but just haven’t had the guts. As you will know if you read my piercing post a while back, I do enjoy the odd body modification and experience a great thrill in the process of getting a new piercing added to me. Tattoos however are a whole other ball game because, unless I want to fork out for expensive laser removal in the future, they are PERMANENT. Piercings I can take out at any time if I decide I don’t like the style or no longer think it fits my vibe, but I couldn’t simply do that with a tattoo. This, and many other factors, have been circling my mind for a while now. The biggest factor I suppose for any first time tattoo is; what on earth should I get? Hot weather? In the U.K? Surely not. Notice that I’m not calling this my ‘summer’ playlist, because I don’t want to tempt fate, especially since the temperature has already dropped since I first thought of this post idea lol. I also won’t accept it’s summer until my exams are over because the concept of a holiday sucks all of the motivation out of me, and I’m sure many of you can relate. I’m sure many of you will also relate to the fact that music is definitely a seasonal thing, and I can’t help but change my listening based on the weather and my surroundings. I’ve loved being back in Liverpool for Easter, and as I write this I am back again for another week or so. Even so, I was still itching to get back to the big city, so it was great having this weekend away planned, for which I will give you the rundown. My best friend Rachel and I bought tickets to see The Vaccines at Alexandra Palace a few months back and I have been excited ever since. By the way, I don’t know when this blog became a Vaccines fan page because I realise this is now the third post in a row that I’m mentioning them but hey, with the new album absolutely killing the game at the moment, I guess it’s my band of the moment.
