Should I Get A Tattoo?

In a very self indulgent move this week, I simply want to rant and air my thoughts about a decision I’ve wanted to make for ages but just haven’t had the guts. As you will know if you read my piercing post a while back, I do enjoy the odd body modification and experience a great thrill in the process of getting a new piercing added to me. Tattoos however are a whole other ball game because, unless I want to fork out for expensive laser removal in the future, they are PERMANENT. Piercings I can take out at any time if I decide I don’t like the style or no longer think it fits my vibe, but I couldn’t simply do that with a tattoo. This, and many other factors, have been circling my mind for a while now. The biggest factor I suppose for any first time tattoo is; what on earth should I get? Ideas have come and gone in my mind over the years, but there are certainly ones that have stuck around that I still think would be pretty cool. The problem is, will an idea I think is cool now stand t...

My Current Sunny Weather Playlist

Hot weather? In the U.K? Surely not. Notice that I’m not calling this my ‘summer’ playlist, because I don’t want to tempt fate, especially since the temperature has already dropped since I first thought of this post idea lol. I also won’t accept it’s summer until my exams are over because the concept of a holiday sucks all of the motivation out of me, and I’m sure many of you can relate. I’m sure many of you will also relate to the fact that music is definitely a seasonal thing, and I can’t help but change my listening based on the weather and my surroundings. So, with even a glimpse of warm weather these past few days, it’s becoming clear what tunes will make their way into my ears this summer, or every time the temperature passes about 10 degrees😄.   I Was a Fool - Sunflower Bean  Recent album release Twentytwo in Blue from this lovely band has come just in time for sunnier days. Their band name alone screams warm days lying in a field, and so does this great album....

My Weekend Back in London

I’ve loved being back in Liverpool for Easter, and as I write this I am back again for another week or so. Even so, I was still itching to get back to the big city, so it was great having this weekend away planned, for which I will give you the rundown. My best friend Rachel and I bought tickets to see The Vaccines at Alexandra Palace a few months back and I have been excited ever since. By the way, I don’t know when this blog became a Vaccines fan page because I realise this is now the third post in a row that I’m mentioning them but hey, with the new album absolutely killing the game at the moment, I guess it’s my band of the moment. So, with this gig in the diary, it was a perfect opportunity for a weekend away with Rachel, because with me living away, and just life getting in the way in general, we don’t always get time alone to chill. It was much needed. The weekend didn’t get off to the most exciting start. Rach and I both got to London separately at around 1pm, headed st...

Meeting The Vaccines

My last day in London before my Easter break was certainly no normal day, but another perfect example of why being in the capital offers so many amazing opportunities. The 30th March marked the release date of The Vaccines’ new album Combat Sports , and to celebrate, HMV Oxford Street hosted both a live performance and a signing for fans anticipating the release. Myself, my flat mate Imogen, and everyone else in the intimate 250 person crowd, were treated to an afternoon of exclusive performances, as well as some old favourites, and I thought I’d retell the day here for my blog, as this (unfortunately) isn’t going to be something that happens every day. Imogen and I got to Oxford Street about an hour before the 2pm signing, sussed everything out and realised we had time to kill, as no one was queuing up yet. What I liked about this event in particular was that, because they only sold a certain amount of tickets, we were guaranteed to meet them and see them perform, instead of t...

My Favourite Songs EVER - Part 2

After last week’s post I have realised that no list will encompass every song that’s had an impact on me, but both of these posts have given it a good go. It’s so fun reflecting on how certain songs have come into my life and why they’ve made an impact on me. So, without further ado, here’s part two of my favourite songs ever; by no means an exhaustive list, but still a pretty darn important one for me. Nightclub - The Vaccines I have never disliked a single song that The Vaccines have produced, and their music has been a staple of my playlists for years. Though indeed any of their songs could make the list, honourable mentions being ‘Denial’, ‘I Always Knew’ and ‘Dream Lover’, I thought it’d be cool if I kept it #current for this one. With the new album only being released a few days ago, I am yet to fully stick my teeth into the entire track list (though seeing them play some live in HMV certainly helped - cheeky humble brag), but THIS SONG is the absolute definition of a ban...

My Favourite Songs EVER - Part 1

I am notoriously bad at picking my favourite of something. Ask me what my favourite film is, or even my favourite chocolate bar, and I’ll take a good few weeks to get back to you. When it came to music, I was sure I had things figured out, and I always find it interesting hearing about others and their favourite songs, because it’s so interesting how different everyone’s are, and the meanings behind why certain songs come to mean so much to people. When curating my list, I realised I have A LOT of favourites, so I’m gonna do this in two parts, hoping that my more musically inclined readers will be interested by my picks, and perhaps discover some new tunes to add to their fave list. Wild Horses - The Rolling Stones The Rolling Stones are a band I only ever binge listen to and then leave for months on end before returning to binge again. I have no idea why this happens, but one song that never leaves my playlists even amongst the dry periods is ‘Wild Horses’. This song is ju...

Saturdays at Borough Market

As of late, my life in uni is pretty unexciting, consisting of lectures, the library, and not much else. Because of this, I have found that early Saturday afternoon is my time to do something that isn’t work related, even if just for an hour or two. Living so close to the iconic Borough Market, visiting it at the weekend was a no-brainer, spending a lot of time there anyway throughout my time in London. It’s a hub of amazing food and drink, and such a great atmosphere to be amongst, to kick start a weekend. The market is mostly, but not completely, covered with a huge, industrial style roof, in which hundreds of stalls co-exist, with everything from paella, to bread, to fruit for sale. Turning each corner of the building means a new amazing smell, all so tempting that you never want to buy food from anywhere else ever again. Some of the most aesthetically pleasing stalls are definitely any of the fruit and veg stalls, displayed in a colourful and satisfying display that jus...
